The vice is present in the device manager saw wireless networks but would not connect when I clicked connect. The first two I didn't have to do anything to make them work. I have 3 HP business notebooks.one has the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3965ABG card, one has the Intel Intel WiFi Link 4965AG card, one has the Intel WiFi Link 5300 wireless card.

Would appreciate any other suggestions in the meatime while I roll back and re-install the Dell drivers. You may be able to get the card to work if you fiddle with some of the advanced settings on the advanced tab for the card in the device manager.

I cannot restore to the factory image as this partition was corrupted when I lost my PC orignally (thanks to Bitdefender update corrupting the MBR and boot sectors).

I can only think to try this as my next approach after unistalling the updates.įailing this is it looking like another manual OS installation.

When I did the rebuild it was a manual OS installation, however the order I installed the drivers was a little random and not as per the guidance shown.

I have installed the drivers from the Intel link provided already so believe I have the latest version. The Wifi card and previous connection to my network is still registered and denoted as a trust network with the same setting as my LAN card (which incidently works fine). I have read the Kasperky page and been through the Firewall (and other) settings and cannot find anything that would suggest the connection is being blocked. Ok I've tried being very close to the router and still no signal at all. I did this about 3 months ago and it has taken me ages to re-install my apps and get my configuration just right, any help would be appreciated. My only option now is to re-install windows which I am loathe to do. I have removed any programs that I could think was having a conflict issue but am totally confused as this was working fine previously. I would have thought it was some kind of hardware issue but its seems the adaptor is installed and powered up according to windows. I have searched a lot forums trying various suggestions and cannot fix this, would appreciate some real techie help. System Restore back to when it was last working Checked all the settings within the adaptor - have altered various settings with no joy, now back to default. Tried windows repair to fix the adaptor

Enabled/disabled the adaptor in device manager Uninstalled any new programs back to the date I knew it was last working Rolled back all the windows updates back to when I knew it was last working Disabled Kasperky Firewall (heard this might affect it) Installed all latest Dell system patches/drivers to ensure everything up to date Unistalled the device and reinstalled following scan for hardware changes Unistalled and re-installed drivers for Wifi adaptor (Both the official Dell ones and Intel ones) I have tried all sorts to fix this as below: Strangely enough bluetooth transmission is still functioning ok as have tested to my mobile.

The card is activated by pressing F5 key on the keyboard, there is no hidden switch on the side that has been knocked off. When pressing this is shows up as activiting both the wirelss connection and bluetooth radio. When I view the wireless properties of the card it appears to be active but shows that IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity are not connected. When I check the network adaptor in Device manager, it shows as beign installed correctly (no yellow exclamations), the driver is the latest version from Intel downloaded from their website. Nothing has changed on my router settings and my connection was previously working fine a couple of weeks ago.Īt some point recently I could no longer even search and detect wireless networks, even though the wireless adaptor card seems to be active and turned on. Bit of background, my laptop is a Dell Studio 1555, running Vista64 (SP2), Intel Wifi 5100 AGN network adaptor, Kasperky AV. Here is the problem: I cannot detect or find any wirless networks to connect to when previously all was fine.įirstly I know my (and other) wireless networks are active and available as I can connect via my iphone/work laptop with no issues. I'm having real problems with my wireless connection and am starting to tear my hair out in frustration.
